Hi Everyone,

It's Day 10 after the big earthquake here in Japan.

With humble thankfulness, my husband, Kenzo and I are safe from harm. We are trying our best to return to our previously normal life. With great faith in those who are working hard to restore the affected areas and handle the nuclear crisis, we are moving on from this sad episode.

Our family and friends have been showering us with kind thoughts and prayers, and we can ' t thank them enough!

Kenzo is in Osaka currently, with our kindest friend Yukiさん who will be looking after him for a while. There have been orders to evacuate and we don't know when we'll be ordered to leave. His safety comes first and rather than having to leave him at a pet hotel/random strangers (should we need to leave abruptly) we decided that Kenzo will stay with Yukiさん who is his breeder and probably knows him best apart from his Mommy and Daddy.

Things are looking up presently, and I truly hope they will continue to improve so we can arrange for Kenzo to come home.

I miss him so much!!!!!!!

Patrick has cat nip in his shorts (wonder who put it there) which explains why they look a little discoloured. That's also why Kenzo loves him very much! :P

We received a beautiful present from our new neighbour the other night :)

It's a custom in Japan to greet and give small gifts to your immediate neighbours if you have just moved to the area.

And like clockwork, our resident Safety Inspector came to make sure if the new item was safe.

お久しぶりです！

Hi everyone! :D

It's been months and months since this blog was last updated. Kenzo and I would like to say sorry for the long silence! We hope everyone has been well :)

Kenzo is now 11 months old and he will be celebrating his first birthday next month! Yeay!

We took Kenzo to the vet yesterday for his usual check up and the vet said he's in ♥perfect♥ health :) He was especially impressed with Kenzo's とてもきれい (very beautiful) teeth, lol!

Here are pictures of Kenzo from the past 3 months to make up for the lack of updates :))

Sorry it's been a while since I've posted a Ginger Ninja update. Rest assured, Bear and Rocco and doing great and still living the good life - eating, sleeping, playing, and having their humans pick up after them. These active kitties can be a handful at times, but when the fuzzy orange blurs finally come to rest...

Golden Week Rest :)

This past week has been Golden Week, a holiday throughout Japan. Ash and I have been running mad here and there, taking advantage of the free time and good weather. Kenzo has been enjoying the plentiful sunshine too, with what cats do best; sleeping :P He's been sleeping a whole lot recently, probably enjoying the peace and calmness while the two noisy people are out!

I have been sooo busy lately I haven't had time to update Kenzo's pictures :(

Now, Kenzo isn't one of the kitties that love freestyle sleeping. (Unfortunately ^_^')

In fact, he sleeps in a very orderly and proper fashion. Legs folded inwards and head held up. At most, he'd probably sleep on his side with his face facing forward. I've only seen him sleep on his back ONCE!

But he must've had a very very very very good day a few days back because I was in a for a treat! ^_^ There he was on the carpet, sleeping carelessly in all his furry glory ♥

Kenzo vs. Mystery Kitty

A loud 'thud' disturbed our otherwise quite afternoon today. I didn't pay much attention to it until I noticed Kenzo totally fixed on the screen door. And when I went to have a look, lo and behold, a stranger was in our balcony!!

Roaming stray cats are very, very few in my neighbourhood and even more so in urban Japan. So I was just as intrigued watching this unknown kitty so up close. Even though he is only a 5 months old kitten, Kenzo was not the tiniest bit scared as he was about the same size as the handsome Mystery Kitty. (Yeay Kenzo!)

*cue Cowboy Showdown music*

The stare down lasted a few minutes until I tried to give him a few of Kenzo's kibbles (he was still very cute!! :P) but the Mystery Kitty dashed off into the unknown...........

ps: My husband suggested that the Mystery Kitty could have been a girl kitty, and maybe she was trying to attract our Kenzo! *hmmmm* But I think I like my version better! hehe

Met my better half Ash in high school at 15. We've been together for 10 years and got married last year :)

I lived in Melbourne, Australia for a year after my A-Levels but now I'm living near Tokyo, Japan. Don't know how long it'll be this time!

My first purebred kitty was a Birman and his name was Eshmael Fortune of Eid. He crossed the bridge due to kidney complications :( I've always had a soft spot for Birmans until now.

One of my childhood dreams is to visit ALL the Disneylands in the world :P So far I've been to the ones in Paris and Los Angeles. Tokyo is soon to come!

My favourite TV show of all time is Sex and The City! I dream of being powerful like Samantha, but I tend to think like Charlotte. I admire Carrie's free sense of fashion and I'm as moody as Miranda. hehe

I love reading articles on Wikipedia. I wiki everything I encounter :D

A few minutes ago, I was wiping Kenzo's fur with a wet tissue. He stepped on my plate and got ketchup on himself ^_^;

Kenzo enjoys sunbathing! Lately with gloomy winter skies, we're thankful for the few sun shining days where I am able to hang out my fresh laundry and Kenzo basks in the warm rays.

I love how his eyes are illuminated here :) Oh, and doesn't he look all grown up??

By the way, I'd like to dedicate this post and photo to my darling sister Nadya, hoping she'll feel better! ^_^

Stealth Kitten

"I'm so cute, I couldn't possibly do anything bad!"

These two are just incorrigible. I was on my lunch break when I received a call from Dear Hubby. "You won't believe what our kittens did..." he began.

He had swung by the pet store during his break and bought some food for the Ginger Ninjas. He went home to drop the food off (he's lucky -- he works so close to home!) He had gone into the apartment, ready to stop Bear from bolting out the door. But... there was no Bear to be seen.

No Rocco either. How strange.

Then he heard a sound coming from our bedroom, which is always kept closed during the day while the kittens have the run of the apartment...

There were our kittens!

The Ginger Ninjas must have snuck into our bedroom in the morning while we were getting ready for work. Ever so stealthily they crept in, so stealthily that neither DH nor I saw them do it. And the door was closed on them. They spent half the day in our bedroom, unfazed as they curled up on the bed. It was pure chance that DH happened to come home at lunch time and could let them out.

Bear especially is fond of doing things like this. Once, he snuck into our pantry while I went to get something out of it. Without realising, I shut the pantry door on him. He did not make a sound, so at first I couldn't figure out where he went. Cheeky bugger.

Then there was the time he climbed into the wardrobe while I was grabbing some clothes..........

Bear's "Prison Break" and trips to the Vet

Bear has a new game that he plays with us. It's called "I'm-gonna-wait-till-you-come-home-and-open-the-door-then-dash-like-mad-outside-and-down-the-stairs-ha-ha". Also refered to as "catch me if you can". It's not like he really has anywhere to go, given that there's a closed security door at the bottom of the stairs, but that doesn't stop him from trying.

Rocco and Bear got microchipped last week. They are now officially registered residents of our little neighbourhood. It is quite surprising how placid they are when visiting the vet. We've taken them for their check-ups and vaccinations three times, and there's been no dramas so far. Though next month's visit might be a bit daunting since it's going to be The One Where They Get The Big Snip.

Sorry, no pics this week -- I didn't think there would be a point to post pictures of fuzzy orange blurs. I'll try and post a couple of photos next week, fingers crossed! :)
